New projects

Earthworm

Earthworm is a collaborative project that I am creating that aims to investigate how location affects the type of art people have access to, specifically focusing on economic background. This is a Practice as research project which will be running from June to September.  There will be scratch performances across the UK to investigate how location affects what type of art is available to people. This is a performance project which aims to aims to give access to those who are from a low economic background. I will be running masterclasses after the scratch shows in physical theatre aimed at everyone.

The story of Earthworm follows three women Carla, Jo and Hattie whose paths cross at a homeless shelter. It is a contemporary, physical theatre piece that aims to show some of the harsh realities of many people face. These three women have completely different backgrounds, yet their personalities compliment each other well.

Earthworm is aimed at all ages with wide range of backgrounds.

The vision

Earthworm is a project I am creating to inspire change. I will create work that is research-led for the people that need it the most. ACE has created a project called 'Lets create' which aims to do just that!

A country

Transformed by

culture.

Bringing Us

Together, Happier,

Healthier. To

Excite, Inspire,

Delight. To

Enrich Our Lives.

NPO's are National Portfolio Organisations which are local organisations that get their money from ACE to help fund art other work. One NPO is Coventry's Herbert art gallery. It is in the heart of the city centre and extremely accessible to young people. The Herbert Art gallery is somewhere that my physical theatre masterclasses would be really beneficial to run.

Project timeline

Seek out co-partners

Narrow down the cast I wish to work with. I want a team that also shares the same passion for the project as me. Preferably with a different skill set to me so we can learn from each other.
We also need to see which venues want to work with us.

Locate and submit funding applications

Find which funding opportunity is best suited for this project (we're currently looking at a DYCP application.)
Then fill it out and submit it.

Start R and D

Begin further researching for the project. E.g what types of performing arts are the most beneficial to share.

Scratch tour and masterclass

Tour the work to different places in the UK.
Collect feedback.
Run masterclasses.
Photos being taken at this point will be really beneficial for promotion.

Promote, Set and Tech

Continue promotional content.
Finalise any props, set or tech we might need for the final performances.

Showtime!

Self-evaluation

Self-evaluation is an incredibly important part of the process as it allows your practice to grow. It shows you exactly what areas worked and what areas need more work. There are a few different ways to do this but some of the clearer methods are SWOT and PESTEL.
Below are the SWOT and PESTEL that I created for this project.
